Overview of St. Cecilia’s 2017 Fund-a-Need: Funding Dreams for STREAM
Raise Your Paddle to Fund the Launch of Project STREAM The Way
For the first time, St. Cecilia is launching a fund-a-need program that asks supporters of St. Cecilia to raise money for a specific need within the school. Traditionally, the Mothers Club annual spring fundraiser provides important financial support to a variety of school needs at St. Cecilia in areas such as technology, education and overall school environment. Through the introduction of the additional fund-a-need effort this year, fundraiser attendees, parishioners, alumni, family and friends will have the opportunity take an even greater role in this year's fundraiser theme "Dreaming in Blue and Gold" and contribute monetary support at any level they desire to a designated program that will enhance the educational curriculum of St. Cecilia and continue to support our thriving academic, faith-based school.
In just a matter of minutes during the live auction portion of the event, the fund-a-need paddle raise will build a monetary fund for this specific cause of shared importance to the parents, students and faculty. Opportunities to donate start higher and incrementally reduce to a lower level so that attendees can choose to donate at the level they are most comfortable with and everyone has an opportunity to participate, in contrast to the actual live auction when only a handful of people participate and even fewer win. Everyone wins during a paddle raise!
Introducing Project STREAM The Way
This year’s fund-a-need "Funding Dreams of STREAM" will support the launch of Project STREAM the Way – an effort designed to develop, enhance and maintain St. Cecilia's commitment to STREAM (Science, Technology, Religion/Ethics, Engineering, the Arts, Math) education through short and long term focused STREAM programs, curriculum and learning spaces. STREAM education provides the collaborative blending of the 5 academic concepts through the platform of the Catholic faith and ethical values in an exploratory and inquiry-based learning environment with an integrated curriculum of each of the disciplines applying project-based methods to real-world applications. The result creates fearless critical thinkers and innovative discoverers of knowledge who are better prepared to solve the problems of our future, and helps our children be the difference our world needs.
How the St. Cecilia Community will STREAM The Way
A STREAM faculty-parent advisory group is being formed to create strategy based on funding available and execute STREAM plans, and propose longer term plans and funding needs of Project Stream the Way over the next few years. Examples of some STREAM goals being considered include the launch of a Science Fair for the 2017-18 school year and longer term, building and equipping a dedicated experiment laboratory. More goals are listed on the Project STREAM the Way FAQ page and reflect a more immediate focus on some of the more prevalently communicated desires from the students, parents and faculty.
